I recently started using the bookmarking service pinboard to save and organize my bookmarks. I was surprised to find the service had a tech-savvy userbase which meant that I could look through tags and actually find novel links – links that often hadn’t appeared on HackerNews or Reddit. Unfortunately exploring these tags was anything but streamlined.
Inspired by stumbleupon, I built a minimum viable product and submitted it to HackerNews for feedback. I was delighted to see it hit the frontpage (peaking at 14) and I spent most of the day implementing feature requests. This taught me a valuable lesson on iterative product development as the end product is much more useful and featureful than my initial app.
